Parades, Pineview, Kabio & More!

A couple weeks ago Farmington did their annual Farmington Festival Days. So we grabbed some friends and met my family over on State Street to watch the Parade.

Last Friday on the 24th of July, not many of us had work. So we decided to go to pineview lake to swim a little. We didn't have a boat but Lindsay & Justin brought their badminton net, and then we were able to cool off when it got hot! We had a lot of fun

Last but not least, Justin's parents got a new horse! Since Abby died they haven't really had a horse to take penny riding with. Dan has a gelding named Chamber but he is only 3 and he's not broke yet. He's bucked 2 people off so we don't dare take him. On Saturday Justin's parents let us take their new horse and Penny to the legacy center to ride. This was our first time taking the horses by ourselves so I'm positives the horses were thinking "Dang armatures..." We probably looked like fools trying to saddle them and get the bit in their mouths but we finally figured it out!

Kabio is their new horse. He is and 8 year old gelding - paint. He is such a well tamed horse! He didn't get panicked at all when we got on him at all and he rode so well next to penny. He reined very well! What a great horse!

This is for Abby

As many of you know, Justin's parents have a horse named Penny that they keep at a friends house (Dan's) in Centerville. Dan has two horses, one named Abby and the other named Chamber. Chamber is a young horse and is not broke quite yet, so he can't be rode. So every time Cindy and Gary went riding they took Abby along so they could ride in pairs. We love riding horses. Justin always rode Abby and I always rode Penny. We would always take them down to the Legacy Center in Farmington and ride them. Abby was like a mother to Penny and Chamber. On Sunday May 24th we lost Abby. It happened when all of the flooding in Grey's Canyon and the Green River started. She was getting a drink and the bank gave way with Dan on her back. Dan made it back to shore safely but unfortunately Abby did not. She drowned and as far as we know her body is still missing. On KSL there is a video of what happened. There were families that were in the area and they had to be lifted out by a helicopter. Those families made it out safely. In the article it says that everyone was very lucky but the only casualty was a young mans horse.This was Abby. The sheriff then tells the story of how it happened.

Abby was a genuine leader and her stall was right in the middle of Penny's and Chamber's. She was such a well mannered horse. Of course tho, she is a mare and gets stubborn so I always remember her fighting for the food. She always wanted to be the first and only one to eat so sometimes she would buck at Chamber and Penny. But most of all she was the best horse ever. She was very well trained, and such a pretty paint. I remember in the winter she would get snowed on and her fur would get so clean and white, she looked so pretty.

Even though Abby was just a friends horse, she is like a family member. I know we will miss her very much.

Horseback Riding

Last night on Labor Day we went horseback riding with Justin's parents. They took us down to the Legacy Center in Farmington. We had a great time, but today we are a little bit sore!

New member of Ballantyne Family!

Hello!! Last week Justin's mom and dad bought a Horse! She is a 6 year old Mare from Odgen, Ut. with a copper coat. She has been so much fun for us! It's been some extra work, just like having another child around, but it has been worth it! We have been out there every night (With the exception of Sunday) to see her and help her get familiar with her new home.

After much deliberation, I think we have decided to name her Penny. Cindy chose it because when you take a copper penny and put it against her fur, it blends in pretty well. I think it is a good name for her.

Penny is in a corral with 2 other horses, Chamber & Abby (Not pictured). Abby has been dehydrated so she had to go to stable. She's been there over the weekend but should be home today. Chamber is about the same color as Penny, only with the white stripe on his nose. He is twitterpated over her! He loves to follow her everywhere! Last night we had to lock him up in the back pasture while we rode her just so he wouldn't get in the way. While he was back there he stood right next to the fence and then he would get so worked up cause he wanted to be with her that he would gallop around the pasture kicking his back legs and farting! It was one of the funniest things I've seen! We all got a good laugh out of it. Chamber is the most friendly horse i have ever met. He licks up and down Justin's arms (Although he broke out in hives -- he's never doing that again) and he lays his head on your shoulder. I got some cute pictures of him with Justin.

Penny has been doing so good with the saddle and people on her back. She hasn't been completely broke because she was just a pasture horse up in Ogden. She is a little bit stubborn and doesn't rein very well but she's getting the hang of it.

Penny got the work out of her life, Justin and I were sneezing from allergies and Chamber was sick of being in the pasture alone. So we called it a night. Cindy bought some brown and pink boots to ride the horse with but they ended up not fitting so she let me have them! (Of course we paid her for them) They are cute, I'm not use to having real cowboy boots yet, but i think they are fun to have! Hopefully we won't turn too much into Cowboys!
